I am joining the 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit

Wow. This is great. There’s really a lot of action going on in the web these days. People are connecting and collaborating even more. And we are meeting FACE to FACE.

First, there was the Software Freedom Day.

Now, I am looking forward to this Mindanao Bloggers Summit thingie.

Exciting. I could meet the bloggers from my very own Mindanao. I am relatively new to blogging and I’d love to learn more from them. Blogs have helped me a lot. Reading other people’s blogs inspire me (especially Sacha’s). I learn from other people’s experiences in every aspect of life. From computers, viruses, programming, teaching, presentation, travelling, food, love, family, career, friends…name it, I’ve probably read a good blog about it.

And what makes it even greater is that I don’t have to travel far to attend the event. It’s all happening here in GenSan. I’d definitely grab this opportunity. :)

See you there! :)

Wow! Super Successful Software Freedom Day!

Posted on September 20th, 2008 in Career, Emotions by mylescxy

For the first time in many nights, I had a good night’s sleep. I feel renewed. Fulfilled. And ready to take on the next challenge. (PhilNITS).

Yesterday was a blast! Software Freedom Day 08 - GenSan was a HUGE success! We had around 800 participants and the speakers were great!

Everybody had great fun at the field too. When the students participated in the games that we prepared for them. The FOSS Race was amazing, exciting and fun-filled too!!!

People didn’t only learn tons of information about FOSS, they also had great loads of FUN and PRIZES! Really surprising for a first-time activity!

goals for the week

Posted on September 13th, 2008 in Current Affairs by mylescxy

this week is gonna be a fun-filled and extra-challenging week for me.

things to be expected this week:

1. student evaluations and class observation by the dean - got to wake up earlier!

2. returning of checked exam papers - i don’t know if i can do this, but i’ll try

3. final touch-ups for Software Freedom Day - most important goal of the week

4. preparations for the PhilNITS exam - if there’s time. if there’s none, I will make time… :)

life is just getting better and better each day… :)

weekly sunday morning recollection

Posted on September 13th, 2008 in Current Affairs by mylescxy

today, i am making a commitment to make sunday mornings my personal recollection time. (it would be especially long if i won’t attend Sunday mass in the morning or when i don’t have a neck-level pile of laundry)

weekly review: the past week has been a whirlwind of SFD-related activities: answering inquiries on email, calling up prospect sponsors, following up partners in other schools, leading and directing a bunch of college students, finalizing plans, gathering ideas, and trying to make each piece of the puzzle fit.

this job is tough. i had to remind myself over and over that it’s all worth it and everything’s gonna be under control…

aside from SFD preparations, i prepared exams for my students. good thing i already have some resources, the task wasn’t as hard as before.

one of my major accomplishments last week is washing a pile of clothes…hehe…it feels so good to have my clothes clean and neatly piled up on my closet instead of being dumped on my laundry area. makes me feel good!

all in all, it was a busy but productive week…and oh, my good friend hannah just had her baby last sept 10. and we visited her at the hospital…she now has a healthy baby boy! the miracle of life is truly amazing. it’s another milestone for her…üüü

one of those conversations that touch your heart and make you cry…

buti n lng naka off ang lights…

so that he will not see the tears…my voice was already starting to crack but i didn’t want him to notice. after all, we were just having a casual talk. we were talking about love… and the family bounded by it. it was one of the best conversations i had with my brother.

all this time, i always thought “I” was the “good one”. the one who gave more. the one who should be appreciated. the one who should be respected. the one who loved more. sacrificed more. hurt more…

but i was wrong.
